Trash

Trash

While out for our, long, walk.  There was a bunch of trash on the side of the road.  Looks like someone was cleaning out their vehicle.  One of the things thrown out was  metal snuff cans.  I found one of these before and make an excellent container for beads.  I don't like the snuff writing, so time to decorate it.  I used finger nail polish to cover up the writing.

Windows

Windows

Last year, we visited Arches National Monument, in Moab Utah.  One of the arches we hiked around was the Windows area.  This consisted of three arches:  North Window, South Window and Turret Arch.  The South Window was around the corner, tucked away, so it couldn't be seen from the main road.

Here is a stary sky over North Window and Turret Arch in colored pencils.

Present

Present

With COVID running loose, all the art supply stores are out of their products.  Finally, they had gotten a stock of Faber-Castell polychromos colored pencils in.  They are very expensive and come from Germany.  Here are all the goodies, hubby bought me for my birthday.

These are oil bases, rather than wax, based colored pencils.  This makes them harder and able to hold a point longer, for making fur.

Progress

Progress

I like to take pictures of the progress of a drawing.  I can see how well it is going and when it turns to shit.

The drawing is one of my mini iris. This time I tried a little mix media. I used Arteza brush markers to lightly color it in, then went over it all with colored pencil.  I used Arteza Professional and Prismacolor Premier colored pencils on grey Strathmore paper.  It was an experiment and and very happy with the result. I have gone over the marker area, several..three or four times with colored pencil. So the marker is, really, not showing through (if so, barely). I am very pleased with the way the two types of pencils work together.  This looks better in person.

The start of the marker, under-painting.

The under-painting completed (marker).

The green part, completed with the colored pencil.

My pallet.

Framed....better in person.

Picnic

Picnic

We needed another table, outside, for our neighborhood get-togethers.  Hubby found a Youtube video on how to build a picnic table.  We made an eight foot table, big enough for six people to sit around comfortably and keep a little distance between each other.  He added a light coat of grey paint to protect it and give it a distressed look.

Origami Owl

Origami Owl

One of my sisters had given me an Origami Owl locket.  It came empty but were able to get three, free charms to tell your story....here is my story.

I like to tat, so I made a little motif with size 80 thread.  The challenge was getting a motif the same size as the locket.  Got it on my second attempt.

I had little rhinestones to represent, my parents, my sisters and I, and my husband.

The charms I picket out:  humming bird, compass (for geocaching) and an artist pallet.

God is a very important in our lives, a cross to remind us of Jesus's sacrifice.

Here's my completed story....
