 Mood

I'm finally in the mood to tat.  I haven't had a desire to tat since October (long vacation).  Farmers market is getting close and I decided to tat a few cruising ducks.

Me

 Me

I was looking through my duck stash and realized I didn't have one for myself.  I must have sold it or gave it away for Christmas.  This is from my "The Cruising Duck" pattern

Beach

 Beach

This is a long, dreary winter.  Most of the days have an inversion.  Would like to be sitting on the beach with Jan and sipping margarita.  This picture reminded me of us.  Jan is on the left and I'm on the right.  We are on a Princess cruise, because the towels we are sitting on are blue and white striped, Princess towels.  Looks like we got a boob job and some how are arms have gotten younger.  Ha Ha.

La Paz

 La Paz

Love it here in La Paz, B.C.S., Mexico. The people are very friendly and the food is fabulous. I seen this beautiful, yellow hibiscus, and need to paint it. I used Lightwish's travel set, Winsor and Newton watercolor paints, along with Grumbacher watercolor paints.

Workshop (Day 2)

Workshop (Day 2)

The 2026 Spokane Shuttlebird work shop is now open for registration.  These are the classes that I'm teaching on the Saturday:

FLOWER FOB:    This is a really fun project with enough room on this little cabone ring for five to six letters or characters. The character beads can be glow, fluorescent or plain characters. All the beads glow in the dark for that extra pizazz. You will be able to pick out your own letters or characters to make it a unique design. It could be a heart, your initials (such as TAT) and another heart, or your pets name. It comes with hook to hook onto your favorite tatting bag.

SCISSOR FOB:   These makes wonderful gifts for all your family and friends.  You can choose between a gold, a silver or a multi-colored scissor and different charms to makes each scissor unique to you or someone special.  You will be able to practice you splits while tatting split rings and over multi sections of split chains.

ADDITIONAL TIME WITH MARIE MCCURRY Teacher: Marie McCurry Class Type: Support Level: Intermediate Do you have questions from your classes with Marie? Do you just want additional work time on Marie’s patterns? This time is available for you to get additional help from Marie.

Workshop

Workshop

The 2026 Spokane Shuttlebird work shop is now open for registration.  These are the classes that I'm teaching on the Friday:

DRAGON SCALE EARRINGS:    The three strands of gold thread, gives these "Scales" a rich look. Make an extra "Scale" for the matching pendant or combine the "Scales" for an elegant necklace. There are enough materials in the kit to make a matching earring/necklace set. After making this gorgeous set, we can go out onto the town.

SPIROGRAPH V 4.0:   Another pattern made from a spirograph drawing. This motif consists of long spiral chains, “waves” and directional tatting. The “spirals” give the motif a dimensional/layered effect. This motif can be tatted in a solid color or using two colors for a dramatic effect.

THE SWIRL COLLECTION: “PENDANT V2”:    This beautiful, dainty choker looks fabulous with any outfit. The easy design is misleading; this is a little challenging climbing though hoops. This necklace comes with an adjustable chain to wear at any length. This is a needle only class. You can, easily finger tat this one.

Sailboat

 Sailboat

We came to Loreto to fish.  On our way to the boat, I quickly snapped a picture of a sailboat and it's tender, in distance.  When I get back from fishing, I'll paint this.  I needed a pot of tea to warm me up, while painting.  The day was overcast and cold.

The painting looks better in person.

Sunrise

 Sunrise

Loreto has spectacular sunrises.  This is what I woke up to, from our hotel window.  The painting looks better in person.  I love my Lightwish paint set.  The perfect travel set.

Travel

 Travel

I think I found the perfect travel watercolor set.  Something that is small and everything contained into one thing.  Yet, big enough for this old lady to see what she is painting.  I saw this on Instagram from Lightwish and had to check it out.  I was able to purchase it through their Amazon store.

I love the little pallet with the forest of pine trees on the front.  The pallet has 18 wells to put my own paints.  The pallet also has a ceramic mixing dish to prevent staining and to produce a true mixed color.   There are 20 sheets of hot pressed watercolor paint and a brush.
