Doll Earrings

The pattern was "Sunbonnet Sue Motif", found in The Big Book Of Tatting, by Darlene Polachic.  The dolls were done in Lizbeth, size 80, in Wildflower Garden.  The dolls are 1 3/4" long and1 1/2" wide.

  2. I can't believe how many times I've looked through the Big Book of Tatting and never noticed these adorable Sun Bonnet Sue motifs! I see that Darlene Polachic used size 20, so I'm impressed you did them in size 80, which would definitely give them a very delicate look! These are so sweet, and beautifully tatted! I would think there would be a great interest in these!

You may know that Darlene took over from Rebecca Hollenbaugh as Tatting Editor of the wonderful quarterly Old Time Crochet magazine, shortly (and sadly) before the magazine stopped being published in the early 2000s. Rebecca did a wonderful job with her tatting column for several years; and before the internet, it was one way of seeing old patterns from the past and also learning some new techniques. I don't understand why other crochet magazines ignored tatting; although with the internet now, it really doesn't matter anymore!

  3. size 80?? I'm astounded, and such a beginner! Moving from 10 to 30 feels intimidating...
