Loom Scarf

I don't like to knit, but don't mind loom knitting.  A freind showed me how to make these, wonderful scarves on a knitting spool.  I had a small loom for making mittens so I used it instead of a spool.  Simplicity has the patterns for making these on 3 different looms.

Mayan Dooms Day

In Tatters was having a tatting exchange, with the Mayan end-of -the-world as the theme.  You could either tat something Mayan or something old (for the new tatters).   Your item could NOT be sent out until 22 Dec, the day after "the end of the world".
I decided to design a bookmark from the symbols on the Mayan calendar.  All was done in Lizbeth, size 20 thread.  The inner part was the symbols such as sun, clouds, don't know, manifest (done in autumn harvest).  The frame work was done in mocha med and the feet (every Mayan symbol had feet) was done in gold.  I tatted around the doo-dad to match (somewhat) the image in the doo-dad.
I made two bookmarks because I choose two exchange people.  One person was from NY and another from Canada.  Don't worry...these were sent out at the first part of January.

One of my latest designs, may post the pattern someday.

Tiger-Eye Ring

12 x 18 mm tiger-eye ring. Made in a size 6.  The balls were made by melting scrap pieces of silver.  When the heat hits the scraps, they melt together and form a ball.

Ice Fishing

Just got back from another ice fishing adventure...

A few of the big ones...crappies.

 Whew!!!  14.5"

  Another big one!!

We've caught so many, my tatting/fishing arm needs some rest.  The ice is going away and fishing is slowing down.  Waiting for the spring fishing to start.

This little doo-dad was another old clip earrings.  I found it at another antique show.  The leaves were tatted in Lizbeth, size 40, jungle green.  I gave it away, as soon as I made it, so I don't know the diameter.

This is an abalone doublet.  A doublet is when a clear, quartz cap is cemented to a fragile stone or shell.  This is common with opals.  The doublet is 19 X 17 mm.  This one I gave to my daughter.

I love old cameo'sI found this at an antique show.  The doo-dad didn't have any holes in it, so I hung it on a dream catcher frame.  I left this one simple.  The thread is Lizbeth, size 20, victorian red.  It measures 1.75" x 2.25".
