Gift

Gift

A friend was tired of having this box of stuff on her front porch.  This was a box of her great grandmothers stuff.  The stuff was 8 boxes of new thread!!!!  Mostly size 30, some 10 and 50.  I let my two students have first choice.  I still have a lot, once they were done.  The thread was in their original boxes.  Two of the boxes were full of the original thread, one of them having motifs started on each ball for a tablecloth.  They also was some old jewelry.

Candy Cane Snowflake

Candy Cane Snowflake

This was from Sally's (Tat's Heaven) new "11.12.13 Snowflake" pattern.  The snowflake was tatted with size 30 thread.  I ran out of red thread, while making Christmas balls, so I used variegated red/white thread.  I have three sizes of bugle beads and used the larger 10 mm bead.  To adjust for the size, I tatted 15 lock chains, instead of 11.  The lock chains reminds me of candy canes.  Need to make one with white and red thread....after I finish tatting Christmas balls for family members.

Heart Tin

Heart Tin

An Altoid (mint candies) tin was decorated with polymer clay.  Make sure you don't trap any air bubbles between the clay and tin, or else it will bubble and crack.  This was a gift to a very dear friend, so she could put her changeable earrings in it for traveling.

A Thank You

A Thank You

It's been almost a year, since the massacre at the Sandy Hooke Elementary School in Connecticut.  After that, the town asked the world to send them snowflakes, to decorate their new elementary school.

They had received so many snowflakes, that they had to ask people to stop sending them.  I had tatted 20 different snowflakes for the 20 innocent children killed.

The other day I had received a wonderful Thank You card for the snowflakes.

Snowflakes I sent.

.......Speaking of  Christmas balls, I finished writing up my pattern for the small Christmas balls.  Reply on this post and I'll give-away two copies of my newest pattern.  You have until Wed, 4 December to reply.  I'll use the random number generator to draw names.

Bead Tin

Bead Tin

This tin was a Burt's Bees lip balm tin.  These are wonderful little tins for storing seed beads.  Nothing can be plain-jane, so I prettied it up with some polymer clay.  The paint was removed from the bottom of the tin, using a Dremel.

New Tatting Kits

New Tatting Kits

I needed a few more tatting kits for myself, since I now have some new wooden shuttles and new, fancy picot hooks.  They have little plastic liners to protect the fabric from the pointy shuttles and picot hooks.  These fit nicely in my coat pocket or purse.
