Tatting
I bought a set of clear stamps off of E-Bay. They consisted of crochet, bobbin lace and tatting. The corner pieces are tatting and the middle one looks like crochet. I used embossing crystals and a lighter to melt them. You can see on the left side I got a little too close with the flame and singed the side. Just adds to the uniqueness of the card. The card was a birthday card to one of my tatting students.
A lighter sounds scary. I used to hold mine over the burners on the stove. Also scary. I've used the heat from a curling iron. Not efficient. There must be some little machine people who use embossing stuff regularly own that I don't know about. Whatever, the lighter appears to have worked, because the card is very pretty!
ReplyDeleteThey make something but I don't do enough embossing to justify it. They run about $16-$26. I just stick with the lighter. Is your burners electric? May be safer that way. Maybe a toaster oven might work with paper. I've tried it with polymer clay and they fuse nicely.
DeleteOH very cute! Some people hold over the slots in the toaster.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea...might have to try it.
DeleteOh that is beautiful, and I had a friend that did the stamping all the time and if you have a good hair dryer is does work too. I bought a small paint remover and that is excellent as well! On the other hand I have intentionally burned paper for a special look that I like!
ReplyDeleteThat is neat!! :)
ReplyDeleteVery cool stamps! I've done a little embossing but I can't really remember what I used for the heat source, I'm thinking a burner on the electric stove. Maybe. The lighter looks to have worked just fine. That little spot on the edge? Looks good, too. :-)
