Tatting Lesson's
New for this year's Farmers Market, will be pre-made tatting lessons. Also, if you want to learn to tat, bring a chair and I'll teach you. Bring size 10 crochet thread and a shuttle. If you don't have a shuttle, I have shuttles and tatting kits for sale....not to mention, tatting books and tatting cases. Hope to see you there.
Here are the pre-made kits so far...all the beads are pre-strung and strung on a floss card in the correct location. There is a colored thread, in the marked spot, to know how much to wind your shuttle. The tatsmithing lesson, has a pre-wound shuttle to prevent extra stretching.
Awesome!!! :)
ReplyDeleteWow I want to come and I know how to tat :) are all the pictures kits? they are absolutely beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYes, they are. I made up extra's for the Shuttlebird tatting workshop. These are four of the five classes I'm teaching. The other one is how to Tatsmith. I'm selling the extra kits at the farmer market.
ReplyDeleteThese all look like fun tatting to teach. I hope you enjoy Shuttlebirds.
ReplyDeleteVery excited. All ready to go.
DeleteWish I could come and learn from you!
ReplyDeleteYour students probably won't realize for a while that they are learning from a Master Tatter and an extraordinary artist, with a natural instinct for choosing beautiful combinations of beads and threads. And you blazed the trail for 'tatsmithing'!
ReplyDeleteI applaud your efforts in making up tatting kits. That takes a lot of foresight and patience!
If there are any crocheters in your group you might let them know that they can hold the thread in the 'crochet' position, with the forefinger up. Also many teachers are now agreeing that it is helpful to teach the chain first, using one color on the ball and another on the shuttle. This lets the student see which thread is actually forming the stitch - that is, the thread coming from the left hand (if the student is right-handed). And if the stitch isn't properly done, they can just try again. When they are comfortable making double stitches, they can more easily tackle the rings.
So glad you had a great experience at Shuttlebirds. And it's hard work to set up for a market. Anyone who buys your items is very lucky. I wonder how many know that you have so many other artistic talents, not to mention your expertise at catching big fish!
