My Latest Find

My Latest Find

I found this pretty little brass box, for a $1, at a yard sale.  It happens to match the brass box, I bought earlier in the year for a $1.  The new box has a beautiful, brass flower motif for the handle.  I reglued it and looks great.

Filling it with Tatsmithing pendents.

Both are filled and ready for my first show.

Doodling

Doodling

I came up with these butterfly earrings, while using up thread on a shuttle.   The butterflies are done in Lizbeth, size 20 thread.  I am giving away the pattern, in my tatting kits.

This one became a bookmark.

Snowflake Pendent

Snowflake Pendent

This was one of Grandma's, single earring.  It's blue topaz, sat in sterling silver.  I cut the post off and smoothed it down.  Being the nerdy chemist, it looks more like an atom than a snowflake.

The thread was pearl cotton #8 and it is 2" in diameter.

Leafy Pendent

Leafy Pendent

I bought this pendent, about a year ago, with the intentions of tatting around it.  Seeing Rachel's wonderful work, I thought I'd give it a try.

I like to incorporate the tatting to the colors and designs of the piece.  The thread is Lizbeth, size 20, seed beads and Swarovski crystals.

The challenge on this piece was the split-chain, in the second round.  For this, I like to go to Linda's site.  She has it in video and pictorial.  Linda designs the most beautiful doilies and 3-D flowers.

Rosey

Rosey

Found this pendent in the same jewelry box.  I'm not pleased with the flower part, it has too many beads.  I'll re-tat the flower in the design, I started with.

The threads are Lizbeth, size 20's.  The gold leafy part was a challenge, trying to tat it in one round.  Once I finished all but the bottom leaf, I was stumped on how to attach it to the top part of the leaf.  Hummmm....what to do....I know, I go look on dear Jane's techniques section Yes, she saved me again!!  She has a "Downward Facing Picot" pdf.  Thank's Jane for your wonderful web site!!

Here's my second attempt...not so busy.

1 " wide and 1.5" long.
