New Doily
Finally, finished and blocked out my new doily for my new kitchen table. We had gotten a larger table and it needed a bigger doily. I hate to hide ends, as most of us tatters do, and all those little motifs needed their ends hidden. The doily was done with size 20 thread and measures 22" across.
Wow! That really looks nice! How beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThat is simply STUNNING in the colours you've chosen. Can you remind me which/who's pattern it is and where I can find it, please? I'm not a doily person but this one sings to me. As for ends - I sew them in each time I make have them. After all - there are only two at the end of each part!! Ends BE GONE!!!
ReplyDeleteThe pattern is one of Jan S. From "Tatting theory", dolly v111. I used the magic thread trick to hide most of the, as I went along. This one is my husband's favorite.
ReplyDeleteThis is very beautiful. It looks perfect in the room, on that table. I hide my ends right away - don't necessarily cut the threads off short until I finish the project (prevents them pulling out from handling the tatting while I am still working) but I DO hide my ends right away. I hate hiding ends, and if you do it immediately, that's 2 fewer ends to hide when you get to the end. That's the way I look at it, anyway. :)

Beautiful doily, lovely color choices. It looks really good against the dark wood of the table.
ReplyDeletePerfect!

ReplyDeleteFantastic work 💚🌻💚
ReplyDeleteSimply stunning! Gorgeous work.
ReplyDeleteWow - what a great feeling it must be to have it done! Your doily is absolutely beautiful. I do as Jane does - get rid of those ends as I go! Hate that task.
