Spirograph
The Spirograph was invented in the late 1800's calculating an area delimited by curves (more info here). I had gotten a set to design tatting patterns. This nice set came in a flat tin, so easy to travel with.
I took four of my Spirograph designs and made tatting patterns from them. Here is my first design.
Ah, splendid !!! I've always wanted to do that, but just didn't get around to buying a spirograph. Now I think I must !
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous!!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteAre you willing to share the patterns, or sell them?? Just curious.
I was planning on writing them up. I have 4 variations for this one. I thought they might make great sun catchers. If you want the pattern now, send me email address and I'll send you the scanned pages from my sketch book.
DeleteThank you so much for thinking about me!!! :)

DeleteHow clever is that! I remember spirographs from childhood, but I hadn't made the connection with tatting.
ReplyDeleteThat's a neat idea! I never had a Spirograph, but I know my granddaughter Lily loves hers!
ReplyDeleteI was give an Spirograph for Christmas as a child, I still have it although the box has gone, never thought of it with tatting, perhaps it time I got it out again. They say as you get older you go back to your childhood, good job I kept it.
ReplyDeleteThat's a very clever way to design patterns. It turned out very nicely!
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat idea. I love playing with the Spirograph and making rosaces with my compass as a kid.
ReplyDeleteI really like the spirograph tatting. I just now saw it. I will watch for the pattern.
