That's my favorite too! And without exception it's the one people buy first when I do craft fairs. I'd love to see the back with that button. Is the button a bit 3D?
Gosh - I hardly recognized one of my favorite snowflakes of all time - the very first one that ever I tatted back in 1990, and it was from my then 'new' book, Festive Tatting. However, being a new tatter,I was too 'chicken' to use a second shuttle, so I left a hole in the center and glued various things over the hole, especially large mirrored gems and even silk flowers. I did a blog post about it on Jan. 16, 2009. And, like Michelle's, mine always sold out.
But your enhancements are wonderful (as usual)! I must ask if you 'encapsulated' the domed button in some way. I know you're an expert at that! So clever! Also love the pearls on the tips and in the center! Really elegant!
Must mention that Marion Leyds designed all the items in the book. We seem to know nothing about her!
PS. I just realized that in my blog post I said it was Motif #15 in the book, and I meant #17! I guess I should go back and correct that! And I might be correct that I made the first one in 1991 and not 1990. No blog back then to keep track of things! I know I was quite proud of it!
Gorgeous!

ReplyDeleteYes, the button is domed on top and flat on the back.
DeleteSo pretty with button and beads.
ReplyDeleteYour snowflake is so beautiful! If I had tatted it, it would be my favorite as well!

It's a button, so I ran the thread through the loop in the back a few times to secure it.
