New Shuttles!!!!

New Shuttles!!!!

I've started these, about 2 years ago and finally in the mood to finish them.  Always can use another shuttles.  I test them all out and love them all.  Therefore, I can't give any of them up.

Black walnut wood (from my grandpa's farm), inlaid with tatting and crystals.  I have one more like this to finish.  Have to design the hearts to go into it.

Black walnut with Idaho Spencer Opals and scrimshaw.

Black walnut and alder (a tree by our old place, on West Pine), inlaid with turquoise, Idaho Spencer opals, mother-of-pearl, agate, crystals.

  6. These are amazing! I see woodworking is another one of your many talents! I'm particularly fascinated with the one that has the tatting on it and wonder how you encased it. It has to be quite satisfying to tat with shuttles you made yourself with special woods!

    1. I used 5-minute epoxy. Make sure it says it dries clear!! You can also get crystal clear resin for hobby lobby to seal it in. make sure you put a coat of decoupage on the tatting, before you add the resin. Also, use lighter colors for the tatting. The original piece was too dark and didn't have any definition. Love tatting with them!! Like them better than my clover shuttles.

    2. Thanks so much for the detailed reply! This surely has to be a 'first' ! I have some old wood shuttles I'd like to try this on. I loved the way you 'blinged' it, too!
