Tree Tatting

Tree Tatting

The day-after Thanksgiving is the day my family puts up the Christmas decorations.  Here is my little 18" tree, decorated with all tatting....oops...not the tree topped angel.  Need to fix that and tat a 3-D angle.  Most of the decorations are my designs...Tatsmithing, baubles and mini Christmas balls.

.......Speaking of  Christmas balls, I finished writing up my pattern for the small Christmas balls.  Reply on this post and I'll give-away two copies of my newest pattern.  You have until Wed, 4 December to reply.  I'll use the random number generator to draw names.

Hummers

Hummers

I found an old pin with one larger hummingbird and three humming bird charms, dangling from it.  The tatting was done with Lizbeth, size 20, azalea and spring green.  It took me three tries until I was satisfied with it.  Here's my progress....

Bead Tin

Bead Tin

This tin was a Burt's Bees lip balm tin.  These are wonderful little tins for storing seed beads.  Nothing can be plain-jane, so I prettied it up with some polymer clay.  The paint was removed from the bottom of the tin, using a Dremel.

New Tatting Kits

New Tatting Kits

I needed a few more tatting kits for myself, since I now have some new wooden shuttles and new, fancy picot hooks.  They have little plastic liners to protect the fabric from the pointy shuttles and picot hooks.  These fit nicely in my coat pocket or purse.

Picot Hooks

Picot Hooks

Found some old crochet hooks, from US size 10 to 14.  I cut them down with the Dremel and add a polymer clay handle and a cap to protect the tip.

Shuttle Cases

Shuttle Cases

I designed these shuttle cases, three years ago, to protect my sterling silver shuttles, during transport to my shows.  The large and small ones were made with size 80 thread and the green case was made with size pearl cotton #12.

I still have some sterling shuttles for sale on West Pine Creations.

I'll work on making up the patterns after Christmas.

For a Little Girl

For a Little Girl

This is a birthday present for my little niece.  Don't worry, she's only 9 and won't read this.  She was asking for pretty pillowcases, so I had to make her one.  The embroidery work was done by one of our local ladies.  The edging is from "The Peacock Book" and tatted with Lizbeth, size 20, leaf green and azalea.

Royal Cross

Royal Cross

I love this pattern so much, it inspired me to tat this Royal Cross.  This was a tricky tat.  At one point, I had 4 shuttles going at once.  This would have been easier if I had needle tatted it.

Shuttle Box

Shuttle Box

This little tin held lemon grass, green tea mints.  It's the perfect shape for a large shuttle.  Polymer clay fuse well with little tins.  Make sure you don't get any air trapped between the tin and clay.  The clay will bubble, split or break away in time if there's any air.

The little embellishments on top glow.

Flower Earrings

Flower Earrings

The matching, changeable earrings to yesterdays post.  The stitch count was adjusted to make these, slightly smaller.  Where the pattern calls for 8 ds, I used 4 ds...12 ds = 8 ds and 4 ds = 3 ds.

This choker looks like something a new bride should wear with her wedding dress.  The pattern was from Occhi Schiffchenspitze Frivolite (the famous peacock book).  The stitch count was slightly adjusted to accommodate the larger beads. The necklace was made with size 20 crochet thread.  The earrings were a made-up pattern to go with the necklace.

6-Hearts Necklace

6-Hearts Necklace

This pattern is from my first book, Tattasaurusing: Baubles and Motifs.  The pattern is called, "6-Hearts".  For those who has this book, I used the same pattern, but used a 32 mm domed disk and size 20 thread.  The thread used was Lizbeth, Victorian red.  This necklace was a special order.
