Smashed Pennies

Smashed Pennies

My sister and I are big smashed/pressed penny collectors.  On her visit, we went to the Oregon Coast.  There was only one penny machine and one of the pennies was a lighthouse.  We were visiting a few lighthouses and we picked up a lighthouse tote bag with a  matching purse.  We needed to dress up our bags with a few zipper pulls, so we knew whose was whose.

If you are interest in pressed/smashed pennies, Penny Collector.Com has the locations of all of the penny machines in your area.

Doily For Mom

Doily For Mom

When ever I receive the Handy Hands Newsletter, I would call my mom up and we would look through it together.  She gets hers a day before me.  We were thumbing through the  newsletter and she gasped at this pattern....WOW.  She had sent me some size 10 crochet thread, from Germany, a few months before, to try tatting with.  There is a gold filament on the thread.  The pattern was from the Sp/Su 2012 newsletter, "Tatting By Penelope, Bk 5", Oval Mat.  This was done, in time for their Anneversary.

Scottie

Scottie

This cute little pattern is from one of our local tatters...Lady Shuttle Maker, Sherry Pence.  The little dog was done in Lizbeth, size 20, black.

Speaking of Lady Shuttlemaker, she is hosting the Fall 2013:  Tat it and See it.  Don't forget to check it out.  Give it a try....my guess is a vase full of daisies.

These Are a Few of My Favorite Things

These Are a Few of My Favorite Things

This is my little sister's favorite movie.  She had the soundtrack to this movie and played it over, and over, and over, and over........

The In Tatters Forum did a tatting exchange on this theme.  We told our partners what some of our favorite things were.  These goodies are from Paula and she used the ocean and tea theme.

Paula made these beautiful barefoot sandals to wear on the beach.  Guess it's time to go to the Oregon Coast.  Paula and her daughter are new to tatting.  Her daughter tatted me a cute, little butterfly.

Tea, pen (for geocaching at the beach), crochted potholder in ocean colors and crocheted facial puffs, tea book, pretty Victorian bobbins, hand (for hand-made, from the heart), little envelopes for tatted items, thread, and barefoot sandals to go on the beach with, oh and her daughter tatted me a little butterfly.

For His Glory

For His Glory

We finished the paraments for our church.  Lorene Pope did  a wonderful job on sewing them.  Our little church looks so lovely.  The pattern is from "Tatting" by Anne Orr.  It's made with size 10, gold crochet thread with a gold filament.  The edging took 64 hours...two inches/per scallop.  Plus the time to sew it all on.  That was the easy part.

Bible Marks

My oldest is moving up to the Confirmation class and will receive a nice new bible.  So, we need to make a nice new book mark to go in it.  I had to keep it simple because there is one Sunday school class and my youngest it 6.  We used size 10 crochet thread and added some beads.

Amanda

My parents send this marvelous book for my birthday, called "Tatted Doilies", by Iris Niebach.  Iris is one of my favorites.  This book requires some discipline!! Most of the doilies are tatted in one round and you need to pay attention to the direction of the tatting!!  Don't let your mind drift on this one.

This doily was tatted in Lizbeth, size 20, denim whispers.  The doily measured 8 1/2" across.

Totes

My oldest, Sunday school, student is going into the Confirmation class.  So, I made him a tote bag to carry all of his books from home to church.  Since, I made him one, I had to make my other student one.  We don't have that many books in our class, so little Sam has  a smaller bag.  Sam's little face lit up when he saw he had his own little bag with a cross on it.

Lost Computer

Lost Computer

My laptop had gotten a few nasty viruses and wiped it's operating system out.  I had a sneaky suspicion, my virus protection wasn't working properly.  I had windows vista and some programs had problems with this operating system.  I was thinking about backing things up and thought I could do it tomorrow.

Well, you all know the story....tomorrow never comes!!  Yup...lost some of my files and favorite programs!!  One of my pictures was of an edging on a hanky.  It was sent off and don't have a current picture for this challenge.  This was challenge 78 of 100.  The edging was done in Lizbeth, size 20, azalea med.

Since I don't have a picture of that one, here's another one.

I am extremely impressed with the amount of patterns in this book and how well it is produced.  This may become my favorite book.  WOW, it's well worth the money!!  What's more, it's booklet size so it fits nicely in a small tote bag.

One for Me

One for Me

I had only one blue cats-eye cabochon.  After tatting the foundation, around the cab, I knew I couldn't release this one into the wild!  I had to tame it and keep it for myself.  This one was Tatsmithed with two strands of Sulky, gold metallic thread.

Of course, I needed changeable earrings to go with it!
